TADIR Dispute Resolution is a law firm specialized in international arbitration and dispute resolution.

Our team has participated in international arbitrations under UNCITRAL, ICC, and ICSID rules, representing high-profile companies in international investment and commercial arbitrations. TADIR also specializes in other alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation.

TADIR's main objective is to provide an excellent and personalized service focused exclusively on the resolution of our clients' disputes.

TADIR does not have other areas of practice, ensuring that one hundred percent of our attention is focused on our clients' disputes. By putting together teams strategically for each case, and because it is a firm based in Ecuador, TADIR is able to provide solutions that are cost-efficient and are competitive both nationally and internationally.

David Toscano

Founding Partner

David Toscano is an international arbitration practitioner with experience in high profile cases under ICSID, ICC and UNCITRAL rules. David acts as counsel representing major foreign companies in international arbitrations in commercial and investment disputes. Previously, David worked in the Washington D.C. office of an important international law firm, and also acted as leader in the International Arbitration Department in one of the most prestigious law firms in Ecuador and the region.

David acts as Professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito Law School, teaching courses in Civil Law and Private International Law. He also has acted as professor in the International Arbitration Master’s Degree Program.

Studies

David has a Masters degree in Corporate Law (MCL) from the University of Cambridge (UK) and a Masters degree in European Union Competition Law from King’s College London (UK). David obtained his law degree from Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where he also obtained a B.A. in International Relations.

Gabriela Ortega

Associate

Gabriela centra su práctica en litigios y solución de disputas. Previamente trabajó en el área de litigios en una firma con gran presencia en el sur del país.

Gabriela ha actuado en litigios complejos, patrocinando a clientes en asuntos de índole civil, contencioso administrativo y derecho fiduciario. Tiene experiencia en controversias de responsabilidad contractual y determinación de daños y perjuicios. Ha participado como abogada externa en litigios sobre reparación económica a favor del Estado en el contexto de proyectos petroleros. Ha actuado como consultora externa asesorando a clientes en controversias que se ventilan bajo la jurisdicción del estado de New York.

Gabriela ha actuado como speaker en varias conferencias locales sobre arbitraje y derecho procesal, y también ha actuado como entrenadora del equipo de Arbitraje de la Universidad del Azuay en varios concursos nacionales e internacionales.

Estudios

Gabriela realizó una Maestría de Derecho Procesal en la Universidad Andina Simón Bolivar, en Ecuador. Además es especialista superior en Derecho Procesal por la misma universidad, y obtuvo su título de abogada en la Universidad del Azuay.

Paúl Carrera

Semi Senior Associate

Paul Carrera focuses his practice on domestic and international dispute resolution. Specifically, he concentrates on international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as on civil, administrative, and constitutional litigation. He has taken part in international commercial arbitrations under ICC, ICSID, and UNCITRAL rules, involving infrastructure projects and matters related to the energy and hydrocarbons sector.

At the local level, he has participated in commercial arbitrations before institutions such as the Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ) and AMCHAM. He also has experience in administrative and civil litigation, as well as in providing constitutional advice.

Before joining the firm, he was an associate in the Dispute Resolution practice of a leading Ecuadorian law firm and served as advisor to a Justice of the Constitutional Court of Ecuador.

Studies

Paul has been an adjunct professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito (USFQ) and Universidad de las Américas (UDLA), teaching courses such as Law of Obligations, Contracts, Legal Acts, Damages, and Succession Law.

He graduated Magna Cum Laude as a lawyer from Universidad San Francisco de Quito.

Paz Jaramillo

Asociado

María Paz Jaramillo focuses her professional practice on dispute resolution, mainly in international arbitration, local arbitration, and complex litigation. She has participated in commercial and investment arbitrations under ICC and ICSID rules in construction and oil and gas sectors.

Locally, she has been involved in commercial arbitrations before centers such as the Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ), AMCHAM, and the Azuay Chambers of Production. She also has experience in administrative, civil, and labor litigation, as well as in advising on personal data protection.

Studies

María Paz obtained her las degree from Universidad de las Américas and she has a minor in Economic Law. Also, she has distinguished herself as a speaker in national and international arbitration competitions and has been a teaching assistant at her alma mater (Universidad de las Américas) and Universidad San Francisco de Quito, in the subjects of Procedural Law, Administrative Law, and International Law. In addition, she has passed the United Nations Global General Service Test to become an international cooperator.

Martina Gamboa

Martina Gamboa's practice focuses on domestic and international dispute resolution. Specifically, she works in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as civil and corporate litigation. She has participated in international commercial arbitrations under ICC and ICSID rules related to infrastructure projects and hydrocarbon sector matters.

Locally, she has participated in commercial arbitrations before institutions such as the Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ). Additionally, she is part of the team responsible for drafting the Constitutional Court of Ecuador's Guide to Constitutional Jurisprudence on Arbitration.

Studies

Academically, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco de Quito, where she was consecutively recognized on the Chancellor's and Dean's Honor Rolls. She also completed a diploma program in law and verbal communication: Argumentation Techniques for the Construction of Convincing Legal Discourse at Complutense University of Madrid. During her training, she interned with the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the University of San Francisco de Quito, participating in national arbitrations and mediations. She currently teaches the Objects of Law class as an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco in Quito.
