TADIR Dispute Resolution is a law firm specialized in international arbitration and dispute resolution.

Our team has participated in international arbitrations under UNCITRAL, ICC, and ICSID rules, representing high-profile companies in international investment and commercial arbitrations. TADIR also specializes in other alternative dispute resolution methods, including mediation.

TADIR's main objective is to provide an excellent and personalized service focused exclusively on the resolution of our clients' disputes.

TADIR does not have other areas of practice, ensuring that one hundred percent of our attention is focused on our clients' disputes. David Toscano

Founding Partner

David Toscano is an international arbitration practitioner with experience in high profile cases under ICSID, ICC and UNCITRAL rules. David acts as counsel representing major foreign companies in international arbitrations in commercial and investment disputes. Previously, David worked in the Washington D.C. office of an important international law firm, and also acted as leader in the International Arbitration Department in one of the most prestigious law firms in Ecuador and the region.

David acts as Professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito Law School, teaching courses in Civil Law and Private International Law. He also has acted as professor in the International Arbitration Master’s Degree Program.

Studies

David has a Masters degree in Corporate Law (MCL) from the University of Cambridge (UK) and a Masters degree in European Union Competition Law from King’s College London (UK). David obtained his law degree from Universidad San Francisco de Quito, where he also obtained a B.A. in International Relations.

Oscar Del Brutto

Partner

Oscar Del Brutto focuses his practice on arbitration and litigation, with experience in complex disputes at both the domestic and international levels. He acts as counsel and as a legal expert in arbitral and judicial proceedings, advising local and foreign companies in contractual disputes, including matters related to the oil and gas, mining, and energy sectors.

Oscar has participated in international investment and commercial arbitrations under ICC, PCA, UNCITRAL, and ICSID rules. He is a Professor of Civil Law at Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo and the author of several legal publications in national and international journals.

He is also a regular columnist for El Universo newspaper.

Education

Oscar earned his law degree from Universidad Católica de Santiago de Guayaquil and holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Pennsylvania, as well as a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from Vanderbilt University.

Gabriela Ortega

Senior Associate

Gabriela focuses her practice on litigation and dispute resolution. She has acted in complex litigation, representing clients in civil and administrative law matters. She has participated as counsel in international arbitrations under the ICC and ICSID Rules. She has experience in disputes involving contractual liability and the assessment of damages. She has also acted as external counsel in litigation concerning economic compensation in favor of the State in the context of oil and gas projects. In addition, she has served as an external consultant on Ecuadorian law, advising clients in disputes litigated under the jurisdiction of the State of New York.

Gabriela is included in the official list of arbitral secretaries of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Quito Chamber of Commerce.

She is a member of the Ecuadorian Institute of Procedural Law.

Education

Gabriela holds a Master’s degree (LL.M.) in Procedural Law from Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar (Ecuador), graduating as the top-ranked student of her class. She also holds an Advanced Specialization in Procedural Law from the same university and obtained her law degree from Universidad del Azuay.

Paz Jaramillo

María Paz Jaramillo focuses her professional practice on dispute resolution, mainly in international arbitration, local arbitration, and complex litigation. She has participated in commercial and investment arbitrations under ICC and ICSID rules in construction and oil and gas sectors.

Locally, she has been involved in commercial arbitrations before centers such as the Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ), AMCHAM, and the Azuay Chambers of Production. She also has experience in administrative, civil, and labor litigation, as well as in advising on personal data protection.

Studies

María Paz obtained her las degree from Universidad de las Américas and she has a minor in Economic Law. Also, she has distinguished herself as a speaker in national and international arbitration competitions and has been a teaching assistant at her alma mater (Universidad de las Américas) and Universidad San Francisco de Quito, in the subjects of Procedural Law, Administrative Law, and International Law. In addition, she has passed the United Nations Global General Service Test to become an international cooperator.

Martina Gamboa

Martina Gamboa's practice focuses on domestic and international dispute resolution. Specifically, she works in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as civil and corporate litigation. She has participated in international commercial arbitrations under ICC and ICSID rules related to infrastructure projects and hydrocarbon sector matters.

Locally, she has participated in commercial arbitrations before institutions such as the Quito Chamber of Commerce (CCQ). Additionally, she is part of the team responsible for drafting the Constitutional Court of Ecuador's Guide to Constitutional Jurisprudence on Arbitration.

Studies

Academically, she graduated magna cum laude from the University of San Francisco de Quito, where she was consecutively recognized on the Chancellor's and Dean's Honor Rolls. She also completed a diploma program in law and verbal communication: Argumentation Techniques for the Construction of Convincing Legal Discourse at Complutense University of Madrid. During her training, she interned with the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the University of San Francisco de Quito, participating in national arbitrations and mediations. She currently teaches the Objects of Law class as an adjunct professor at the University of San Francisco in Quito.
